But, by making the first, I hope the second will also be created. I have pictures of days I know for sure they weren't that much fun altogether, but when looking at the sun and happy people filled photo's, your memory tends to change.
I want to educate my children, especially now that they are in a seemingly everlasting phase of: can I have that? when will we go to the toystore etc, that the best things in life are for free and now that Ed is gone for a long time and I don't want to spend all my time with family, I thought of a walking project. We're planning to do a walk of 5 km each week.
Today we went to such a nice place with a very nice route, but they starting fighting as soon as we hit the trail. The little picknick was a big succes, but then the last 2,5 km still had to take place. What do you think: is it important to teach them the joy of perseverance or should I give in and just find a nice place to pick nick and not have them walking such distances? They became completely happy again when we went to the visitor's centre.
So, later, when they see these pictures I really wonder what they'll think: oh, mummy made us do these awful walks. Or 'those were the days. We saw so much nice things, we learned about trees and butterflies and had great picknicks.' What's your guess?

I think it's a good thing to give the taste of walks to children. Of course a picnic or snack is a good break before continuing (also for me sometimes!). Our daughter had the habit of walking since she was young (she still young since because she's 10). It's nice and convenient to have a child who doesn't complain after walking 500 meters! And I think this will give her a taste of the effort to see beautiful things.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThanks Rosa! And my, really? Well, your daughter is really doing a good job! Wonderful. So, I will try to keep up the spirit and we'll see if they learn to love walking.
